Wednesday - Scottsdale, AZ - New Year's Eve!

The next morning we were left to our own devices as Shannon and Kurt both had to work. It was so nice to be in an actual house after sleeping in budget hotels for over a week. I was planning on sleeping in and then rolling into a hot shower. These dreams were somewhat shattered when Boo returned very soon after he’d left to report the shower had turned ice cold very quickly. Bummer!

Kurt arrived home soon after to whisk us to lunch so I decided to brave the shower. I literally had enough time to wash my hair and quickly soap my body before it was COLD! Cold! Apparently he forgot to tell us about that part when he was giving us the grand tour.

We headed over to Oregano’s for a pizza lunch when we were informed that Wayne Gretzky was in the building. WHAT?! What a chance! The great one happened to be dining with his children in the inner dining room as we waited for a seat in the patio. We were situated in a perfect place to catch him if he managed to come out while we waited. Thank goodness Shannon brought us some sweet potato fries, bless her heart.

Finally! He strolled out with his two young children, dressed in stone washed jeans and a brown pullover sweater. Very normal looking, still handsome in an old guy kind of way. We tried to play it cool but man I wished I had my cell phone camera in that moment. He must get it all the time.

Right after he left, we were seated and treated to a delicious lunch. I’d been craving pasta for days and it greatly hit the spot. We took Kurt through our trip via a paper napkin while he took us on their trip to the Caribbean. It was a very thorough sharing time.

We took a drive through some neighborhoods with some beautiful houses. There’s one house being built now where the actual house is one acre. An entire acre! So hardcore.

After we got back to the house, the boys played Wii while I took a short nap. It was hard to find something appropriate to wear after the active lifestyle we’d been leading up to that point. Luckily, I always come prepared. We were invited to have dinner at Kurt & Shannon’s friends house which was extremely beautiful. The dinner was lovely and super delicious. We took some prom photos by the Christmas tree. They had an outdoor fireplace that felt so great on a cool evening but then it started throwing ashes into our hair so we moved indoors.

After filling our bellies up, we headed to downtown Scottsdale to have some drinks at a wine bar. We had a couple shooters then I had some lychee cocktail. We finally took some pictures with people aside from ourselves and some good candids at that!

For the midnight drop, we went back to Kurt and Shannon’s to turn on some Carson Daly. A Carson Daly I barely recognized as he has become anorexic or something. And there I was at midnight with new friends and the one person I wanted to be with the most to start 2009!
